This is the most common mistake made by online business owners 99% of the time. They will make the mistake of focusing to much on how pretty their site looks. They want flash, java, roll over buttons the whole sha-bang. This is a common mistake that most newbies make.

The trick is to make your website more user friendly. If at all possible do not use flash. I say this because the search engines can not read this information and will penalize your site by giving you a poor ranking – if it even ranks your website. No search engine ranking means no traffic which means no revenue for your business.

I Give Them A List of The Most Common Mistake Made by Online Business Owners

Even though I give them my list, the majority of my clients pay me really good just to argue with me. Most companies let there ego’s make their decisions. They want a website that their clients will think is pretty. Their not concerned with the longevity and future of their businesses at the moment, and thus fall under the category of… You guessed it… “The Most Common Mistake Made By Online Business Owners.”

The humorous aspect of this situation is the same client that pays me thousands of dollars will turn around and complain because they weren’t getting any traffic to their website. Keeping with the basic principal that the customer is always right I had to find a win-win solution.

I accomplished this by simply adding a WordPress blog on the back end of their existing site. This allowed me to work freely and to achieve the results that the client desired.

So if you are one of those people who chooses pretty over functional then you should consider placing a wordpress blog in a sub-directory and linking to your existing pages.

This simple solution has created a win-win situation for me for years. My clients get to brag about how pretty their site looks and I get awesome referrals for generating awesome results. BUT, I also get to use them as examples during seminars when I tell the audience about the number one common mistake made by online business owners.
