As Google continues to strive for search engine flawlessness, there are those that always find away to beat the system. What those people fail to realise is they are doing more hurt than they are good. It is sad to say, but one or two bad apples are destroying it for all of us. Thanks to the few bad apples Google is compelled to spend Millions of dollars to make updates to their system to not only improve search results, they are also attempting to by-pass the wrongdoers.

Here are a couple key factors that you should remember. No matter what changes Google or any other search sites make, prime quality centered content will take top priority. This is a habit that you should already be putting into use.

When I say, “High Quality Centered Content,” I mean original content targeted on a detailed material and not spun, or scraped content. Back links still play a major league roll in search engine rankings. The difference is the trustworthiness that’s given to the location of the back links. The Google Dance Is Killing SEO

Everyone by now knows about Google and their notorious updates. Everywhere I look people a crying the sky is falling the sky is falling. Just this week alone I have had THREE… Count them 1 – 2 – 3!!! Two SEO COMPANIES and one SEO software company PAY ME to share my test results and to consult them on what they need to change.

I’m not sure how many times I need to say this before you finally start to get it. No matter WHAT CHANGES GOOGLE MAKES they will always favor high quality content and targeted backlinks. Does that mean that backlinks such as profile links ect. do not count? Of course they do! Let me break it down for you:

Profile Link Pros & Cons

PROS – Profile backlinks are your low level backlinks. They are not going to help you dominate the race, however they will give you that cutting edge. The secret to using this approach is consistency and bulk. Here is why… Out of 2,000 profile backlinks that you have generated within 30 to 90 days approximately twenty to thirty of them will actually be indexed. This is way this should be outsourced and you should not waste your time on doing them yourself.

CONS – Our testing has proven time and time again that approximately 100 profile links are equivalent to 1 or 2 high quality links. The sad but true part is all links are not created equal. The reason for this is that it is extremely difficult to find high quality profile links on a site that just happens to meet your niche market. It doesn’t matter if the profile link is from a high PR ranking site, themes play a roll in the quality of the link.

Social Bookmarking Links Pros & Cons

PROS – The secret strategy to social bookmarking links is the same – consistency and bulk. This is another extremely time consuming task and should be outsourced in order to be effective. You need to at least hit 100 plus sites that fall under the “social” banner. Obviously the more of these sites you hit a month the faster you will see results. IT IS A NUMBERS GAME.

CONS – The effectiveness of this strategy will greatly depend on what niche market you are in, and how competitive that market is. Many of these sites are now NO FOLLOW sites and the links are good for nothing but driving traffic to your site. This task should be outsourced also.

Web 2.0 Links (Sometimes called Link Wheels)

I just read an article where the “SEO EXPERT” was saying link wheels were dead. I could not believe what I was reading!

I want to make sure that you understand what a link wheel is, so look at the diagram below.

REALLY take a look at the diagram above. How in the hell could it be possible that link wheels are dead? You are only building links for external pages that you have created other links on. There is no way possible that this is a bad thing. You are pushing up third party pages that give your main site more credibility.

Again… The key to building a Link Wheel structure is consistency! You most do it on a monthly basis. Another important thing that I would like to note is you do not only build Link Wheels around your root domain (yourdomian.com) you also want to build Link Wheels around your sub domains i.e. yourdomain.com/page.html.

.EDU .GOV and .ORG PROS AND CONS

As of now these are the HOLY GRAIL OF LINKS. As of now our research shows that these links hold the most weight. Search engines feel that these domains are trustworthy and if you have a link from a trustworthy site then your site must also be trustworthy.

You should be building AT LEAST 50 to 100 of these links a month. What’s the key to your success regarding link building? Say it with me! CONSISTENCY!!! Are you starting to get it?

Have You Heard That Article Marketing Is Dead?

Chances are you have heard that story, and right behind it they were trying to sell you something else.

ALTHOUGH ALL LINKS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS.

How do you move a mountain? One stone at a time. The same principal applies to link building.

Some clients ask me since .edu etc links are more powerful why not just focus on them? Well the answer is simple. If you have only high quality links pointing to your site, a red flag goes up as far as search engines and your site will lose ranking if not drop all the way out of the search results. NO SITE ONLINE HAS ONLY HIGH QUALITY LINKS POINTING TO IT.

You want to vary your link building strategy. You want to grow your links overtime and you want to be… What??? Consistent!

HOW LONG BEFORE YOU SEE RESULTS

There is no set in stone time before you start seeing results. I know its sort of disappointing. The reason for this is that as you submit links, there is no way of telling how long it is before it is approved or how long it will take before the search engine spiders will index the page.

ON AVERAGE the time frame is usually 60 to 90 days before you start seeing results. There are exceptions to the rule and I have had situations where I have seen results in a few days. There are just soooooooo many variables that come into play. The important thing is keep building and do not look back. EVEN IF YOU NO NOTHING ABOUT OTHER ASPECTS OF SEO DO LINK BUILDING AND YOU WILL ACHIEVE GOOD RANKINGS IN THE SEARCH ENGINES.

If your not already doing so, make backlink building the cornerstone of your SEO efforts. At least 75% of your efforts should be spent on building backlinks.

The Truth About Backlinks And Building Backlinks

Backlinks are one of the corner stones to dominating the search engines. Everyone and their mother has theories about backlinks, and the rest of them are just rehashing what they have heard or read somewhere else online.

Have you heard the one about bad backlinks could ruin your rankings?

I have a dedicated server setup that I do nothing but test on. So let’s go with the evil backlinking theory. If bad backlinks could hurt your search rankings don’t you think that the cut throat marketers, spammers, etc. would just build bad backlinks to their competitors sites?

You could generate a list of keyword phrases that you wanted to rank for and outsource the negative link building process for pennies. You could have your outsourcers build links to all of your competitors and quickly dominate any market you wanted at will.

I am constantly reverse engineering competitors for my clients. Those that are dominating the search engines have a variety of links pointing to them. You can easily identify the links that have been outsourced, and those that have been skillfully targeted.

Search Engine Domination Formula

Good content – I treat all of my clients sites as if they were my own. I want content that is going to help people.
On Page Optimization – optimizing your website can be different for each keyword phrase. I see a lot of people giving advice such as, “always put your keyword phrase in the title”. That is not always true.Fact: No one knows what the hell Google does to rank their sites. I see some sites ranking with the keyword in the title, I also see others that do not have the keyword phrase anywhere on the page. All that we can do as marketers is reverse engineer the top ten sites for the keyword phrase that we are targeting and do a little better than our competitors.
Off Page Optimization – start building backlinks to your site. This is an on going process and there is never a such thing as a site having enough backlinks. You want to build your backlinks organically. You want a mixture of dofollow and nofollow links.Think about it… If the search engines see that you have nothing but dofollow links to your site, don’t you think that looks a little suspicious? Of course it does. My team uses the information in my. “Backlink Blackbook” to build links for my personal sites as well as the clients that I serve.I also outsource the crazy backlinks suck as, social bookmarking, form post, blog comments etc. In my opinion it is a waste of time for my team to be doing such tedious work. I already know that it takes approximately 100 blog comment links to equal 2 or 3 high quality links. However every little bit counts right?
Press Releases – OMG I have made a killing with this backlinking strategy. I am not sure why companies charge several hundred dollars to write a press release, its so simple. Although I have discovered a few strategies that give my press releases that little competitive edge over the others.Press Release Tips: Align your press release with recent events whenever possible. Your press release should always sound news worthy (search for sample press releases) there are a ton of examples online for you to follow.I wrote a press release entitled, “The King of Rock and Roll and Internet Marketing” and it spread like wild fire. Did it happen overnight? NOPE! It’s been almost a year and I am still making affiliate sales from that one little report that I wrote while sitting in Starbucks.

Although all backlinks are not created equal, a vote is a vote unless you are selling bibles and have thousands of backlinks from a porn sites. Obviously that would not be a good thing.

A Bit Of Advice Grasshopper

Stop believing everything you hear, and read. In fact I do not want you to EVER take my word. What I want you to do is test for yourself. Everyone started yelling the sky is falling and article marketing is dead.

I love it… You keep believing that, mean while I will be enjoying your lunch money. Article marketing is a small tool that I use to build backlinks, and traffic to my sites. It has worked and it will always work. After all what is article marketing? It’s content? What does the search engines want? Content!

If you were writing B.S. articles, then the rumor is true. Article marketing is in deed dead for you. However for those who are distributing good content, the good times are continuing to roll, and the backlinks our adding up.

You should be dedicating 75% of your online marketing efforts towards building high quality backlinks to your site.

The Google Dance

While building your backlinks you will notice often times your rankings will drop initially. Newbies will often begin hitting the panic button and running out in the streets yelling that the sky is falling. They will immediately stop all of their link building efforts because they believe it was the link building that caused their rankings to drop.

If you are tracking your rankings the way you should be doing – you will notice that various pages on your site are always fluctuating. I run reports on a weekly basis for newer sites and on a monthly basis for older sites. Your job is to keep plowing forward, and it will all pan out.

The Backlink Building Conundrum

When it comes to the backlink building process I am amazed at all the theories that I see floating around online. Not a day goes by that I do not receive an email from someone on my list telling me the same old story:

“Tim I have been trying to make money online for a while now. I have read all the courses, and tried everything from PPC, to SEO and nothing seems to work for me. Could you please give me some advice.”

From story-to-story the wording may change but the underlying message is always the same. There are hard working people from around the world, that are sick and tired of being slaves to some job that they are in no way passionate about. Working for someone who does not appreciate their efforts. All that they want is their fair shot at financial freedom.

Then I see so many egotistical Internet Marketers that jump on the bandwagon of the latest craze just to be heard with no regards to the victims that they leave in their path.

The latest craze is all about the Google shake up.

But wait… I also talked about the Google shake up!!!!

Here is the difference – I am constantly testing and tracking my results. Most Internet Marketers are to lazy to spend the time and effort that it takes to track their efforts. If you are not tracking your efforts it is impossible to grow and expand your business. That is the bottom-line.

Now For The Backlinking Conundrum

I had a client who had thousands of backlinks pointing to their root level domain, and they still could not reach the front page of Google. Meanwhile their competitors only had a few hundred backlinks and was sitting pretty at the number one position. My client’s page was optimized, and they had the domain name and age advantage over their competitors.

My client and his team of Internet Marketing guru’s were baffled as to why this was happening. They had read the latest Internet Marketing newsletters. They had all of the courses, both physical and digital, and still they were failing.

The only thing that they new for sure is that after the big Google shake up they were no longer on the front page.

After listening to my client on the phone for about 15 minutes explaining everything, and hearing the desperation in his voice, he finally asked the big question – how much for my help?

I could have easily charged him $5,000 and he would have easily paid me for solving his problem. My client sales a unique product that he generates $1,000 profit per unit. On average he sales 7 to 10 units per day. On the low end that is 196 units per month.

I told him that I would charge him nothing up front, however I wanted $25 per unit sold for the life of the product. For me that comes out to $4,900 a month (on the low end). Without hesitation he took the deal, we finalized everything and I went to work on solving the problem. It took me about 3 hours to figure out exactly what the problem was.

NOTE: I was sitting inside Barns and Nobles eating cheese cake, while I was doing this. Ask yourself how cool is that?

I called up my clients Internet Marketing team, and explained to them where they went wrong, and how to correct it.

The Problem

The client was using Unique Article Wizard to build backlinks to their site (excellent product and I highly recommended. It is worth every damn cent that you pay for it.) However they were creating articles using the same link over and over again instead of promoting various pages of their site.

The Solution and Why

Lets say that you want to build backlinks for the following URL:

www.yourdomain.com/any-keyword-page

My client would write an article and prepare that article for Unique Article Wizard (so far… So good). In order to create more links to the same URL they would create more articles (this is where the proverbial shit hits the fan).

When the client submit the first article to the designated URL they were building backlinks to their site, as well as generating traffic. All of this aids in helping your rankings in the search engines.

In order to increase their backlinking efforts the client repeated the process. In logic it sounds like a good idea. However the software they were using UAW submits the article to the same sources. Those sources are eventually spidered by Google and other search engines. The search engine spiders realize that it has already found a link to your URL on this site and no longer gives it any credit as far as helping you boost your rankings. The only good promoting the same URL over and over again using ANY SOFTWARE is you may generate a little extra traffic.

You time would be better spent creating another page on your website targeting the same keyword phrase and then promoting that URL. You could then link the URL on your site to the main page that you wish to push up the rankings.

I explained everything to the clients Internet Marketing team and they immediately implemented my idea. Three weeks later thanks to TRACKING a few sales started to trickle in.

The client and I agreed to send me my commissions weekly via PayPal. Currently I am generating $375 a week, for less than a days work that I did almost two months ago.

Solving Your Own Backlinking Conundrum

Stop worrying about generating a ton of backlinks and focus on optimizing various pages of your site and building backlinks to them also. Using tracking methods, determine which pages are doing climbing the charts and go out and build more highly targeted banklinks to those pages to give them that little extra boost.

You should be spending at least 50% of your time applying backlinking strategies, this is where your money will come from. Let me be a little more clear… You should spend at least 50% of your time building highly targeted backlinks to your site.

Is Article Marketing Dead?

There was an old song that I find to be appropriate for this particular situation. It went something like this, “Its crying time again, because your leaving… And I see that far away look in your eyes.” That is what comes to mind when I think of the current state of article marketing. It was good while it lasted and now those days are behind us.

Should You Stop Article Marketing?

According to Google’s Matt Cutts (I am paraphrasing) Google looks at the majority of article directories as being low quality sites. You placing your content on those sites just to get backlinks places you in what is known is the SEO realm as a bad neighborhood. To put it another way the links to those sites are worthless, and a waste of time. They will carry very little to know value.

What Do We Do About Backlinks Now?

Some great person somewhere in history once said, “History has a way of repeating its self.” This is the case here and now. Back in the old days of Internet Marketing, building link directories, and submitting your site to other link directories was the way to go. Well guess what??? Its back, like it or not.

My friend we are back to reciprocal link exchanges and one way link building strategies. If done correctly, this technique will build your site as being an authority in your particular niche, and give you excellent rankings in Google as well.

Are All Article Directories Bad?

Here is the catch (according to my personal testing), you have to submit unique content to the RIGHT article directories. Before you fall out of your chair allow me to solve a few problems for you such as which directories should you use, and how do you create a large number of unique articles for each directory. Lets deal with the first issue – which directories do you submit your content to.

Before I simply fork over my golden list of directories that will help you dominate the search engines let me explain something to you. YOU DO NOT WANT TO ALWAYS SUBMIT TO HIGH PR RANKING SITES. If Google sees that you are receiving a huge number of links from PR 6 sites at one time a red flag will go up and you stand a chance of being de-indexed. To avoid this it is better to build your backlinks organically and mixed the PR rankings of the links.

According to my testing you can safely build 300 links to your site a month without having any problems what-so-ever from Google. Although a PR 6 backlink is better than a PR 2 or 1 backlink Google is smart enough to know that NO SITE is going to get 100 PR 6 backlinks to it all at one time.

Before I fork over my Holy Grail list of DoFollow websites I want to first tell you how they came about, and recommend that you follow in my footsteps. I have a list that I keep on my desktop and anytime I come by a useful DoFollow site I save it to my file for later use. You will be amazed at how quickly you will accumulate your very own Holy Grail list.

I must also ask that you do not spam the resources that I am about to share with you in a moment. Although spamming may initially pay off, the ends never justifies the means. Not to mention you will ruin a good thing for everyone, and your actions will lead to those who do allow DoFollow links to convert to NoFollow. Your mission is a simple one if you choose to take it. All you have to do is make sure all of your link submissions are done honestly. By that I mean do not use keyword stuffing practices. If you do things the right way the search engine gods shall smile upon you and reward you with good search rankings.

Since I truly do like the term Link Wheel instead of what I originally was calling it, “Link Web” I will give you a brief breakdown of how it is REALLY suppose to be done, and why it is done this way.

Your targeted page can be your blog post, or your squeeze page. You DO NOT WANT TO USE THE SAME CONTENT FROM YOUR TARGETED PAGE TO CREATE YOUR LINK WHEEL. Pay special attention to the sites being used to create the link wheel. They are all DoFollow links! This is why it is important to have a crystal clear understanding of the DoFollow and NoFollow Links principal.

The Google bots are constantly on the sites that I have selected, which means that it is SUPER EASY for you to get your targeted page indexed.

NOTE: ALWAYS DO YOUR ON-PAGE OPTIMIZATION BEFORE BUILDING YOUR LINK WHEEL

Social Bookmark each page of your Link Wheel (the DoFollow and NoFollow Links principals apply with social bookmarking as well.)

Create an Ezine article based on another comparable Keyword Phrase and link to your original targeted page, and your Squidoo page. This is killing two birds with one stone. You have a new link going to the targeted page thus increasing traffic and backlinks giving your targeted page more link juice.

Start building your link wheel but this time you are building it around your Ezine Article. This will help push the Ezine Article up in the search engines, as well as adding more creditability to the Squidoo page from layer one of your Link Wheel. Once you have completed the second layer of your Link Wheel do the same thing with another article directory i.e. GoArticles and link to the Targeted Page as well as the HubPage from layer one of the Link Wheel. Continue the process over and over and over.

When Do You Stop Creating Link Wheel Layers?

Continue creating layer after layer of the Link Wheel until you have dominated the market. If I am competing in an extremely competitive market I will continue piling the layers on until I have pushed my page up to the top of Google or I am satisfied with the amount of traffic that I am coming in.

Google’s New Patent Is Once Again Changing The Game

According to insider sources the search engine giant has been granted a new patent entitled, “Determining Quality of Linked Documents.” In my personal opinion this patent has given me a better insight regarding Google’s tactics as far as the influence of a link in comparison to search engine results. It also allowed me to prove that doing your own tracking and testing is crucial to your success.

Here is what I have been able to deduce from my understanding of the patent:

Google tends to give links from affiliated pages a maximum value.

My research shows that Google is more likely to assign individual value to likes from independent web pages.

What the hell are you talking about Mr. SEO Bully? I am glad you asked! All of this means that 3 links from an affiliated site would carry more value than a single link (so far nothing special, but here comes the catch). The total value of all links from an affiliated site is limited (ahhh! are you starting to get the picture?)

Ok here is a further breakdown – many of the online services that we use, have sites that are affiliated with one another. Users will be limited to the number of links they can place on these affiliated sites. No one is sure exactly what that number is, one indication however is when you are trying to move up the search engine rankings, and it appears that nothing is working… You have hit the wall. You need to start digging for other resources to generate backlinks to your site.

I guess your next question is how in the hell can Google tell if a site is affiliated or not? If that was not your next question it should have been. If it was exactly what you were thinking BROVO give yourself a pat on the back.

Google uses several techniques to draw their conclusion on which sites are affiliated or not. Interlinking is one such technique. Sites that are closely interlinked to one another as compared to the average page on the site (in Google’s eyes) may be considered to be affiliated.

Hostnames is another method used. Pages that have matching domain names or subdomains stand a good chance of being considered as an affiliated site.

This is the method that is going to kill many Internet Marketers rankings. The other methods thus far can easily be worked around, but there is no work around for this method. Google is using IP addresses, more specifically the first couple of numbers. If they are identical then Google may consider those pages as somehow affiliated.

The monitoring of IP addresses is nothing new with Google. However it is now official, it is part of their strategy for determining the quality and value of links. Many of my friends get upset when I reject them for asking me to link to their blog or website. When I try to explain my reasoning they hear nothing but blah, blah, blah and that is why I cannot do it. I give many of them discounted hosting on one of my servers since they are just getting started. ALL HOSTING COMPANIES use what is known as shared IP Addresses. By me linking to them or vise-a-versa it would lower the quality of my links, thus causing me to drop in search engine rankings. The end result could possibly cost me thousands of dollars a month.

The last thing that Google takes into consideration according to their new patent is visitors. They consider web pages that share the same visitors during the same browsing session as possible affiliated websites.

I mentioned earlier that none of this was anything new. In fact Google filed this patent a couple of years ago, and it was just granted recently. What this means is that they have been applying these methods for sometime, but it has just been made public.

All in all what the patent does is confirm what I have been preaching for a long time now. Your goal as an Internet Marketer should be to get as many high quality links from a variety of websites as possible. DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN AUTOMATED LINKING SCHEMES. DO NOT USE AUTOMATIC LINKING SOFTWARE!

I have yelled this from the highest rooftops for years… The quality of your links are WAY more important than the quantity of your links.

It’s not news that article marketing is one of the hottest forms of product promotion. In these days when we are concerned about building credibility and showing our expertise articles can lend credence to your offer.
