Interview With The SEO Bully

During a recent interview with WebmasterRadio I was put on the hot seat. Before you start reading the interview I want to thank Amanda for creating this transcript and sending it to me, making it possible for me to share it with you. She could not believe that I was going to actually give it away. They are going to be selling the audio version for $97, along with the transcript of the interview.

I hope you enjoy it, because I had a good time doing it.

Interviewer: I would like to welcome everyone with the long awaited interview with the SEO Bully. If you do not mind I am going to jump right in with my first question.

The SEO Bully: Fire away my friend.

Interviewer: Can you really make money online?

The SEO Bully: Yes of course. Anywhere that you have a lot of people i.e. traffic you can make money. If you have ever been on a cruise as soon as you get off at port there are tons of people trying to sale you things. Why are they there at the port? Because thats where the traffic is at.

Interviewer: Can you make money online without having to spend any money?

The SEO Bully: Sure there are many things you can do online to make money, you can become and article writer at a site like The Content Authority and earn a hundred dollars a week. If you have some sort of talent you can earn money on fiverr.com. Its free to sign up, and depending on your niche you can earn somewhere around $30 to $40 a week according to my recent surveys.

The bottom line is there are many ways to earn money online without having to make an initial investment. However I have yet to find a method where you can make any real money online without making some sort of initial investment.

Interviewer: What is the best way for a complete newbie to earn money online.

The SEO Bully: If I have said it once I will say it again. If you are serious about making money online the best way is to start out buy earning money with Adsense. The reason I say this is because, in order to earn money with Adsense you must learn the fundamentals such as putting up a website and or blog. Doing keyword research which is the foundation of all successful websites online. You will learn the different methods of driving traffic to your website, which will give you a better understanding of such things as conversion ratios, click through ratios etc.

Once you have successfully mastered this craft you will possess the knowledge to make money online period no matter what you want to do. You can become an affiliate marketer, you can create your own products and sell them and keep 100% of the profits if you so choose. There is no limit to what you can do once you understand the basics.

Interviewer: What is your take on PPC advertising?

The SEO Bully: Its not for a newbie, and it is a fast way to loose whatever money you do have to advertise with. Now… With that said and done, if done properly you can put up a site and start to earn money hand over fist in a matter of minutes.

Interviewer: What is your main source of income online?

The SEO Bully: Wow, not beating around the bush huh? Hmmm. I do not have what I call a main source of income. I learned early on to diversify my revenue streams online because nothing last forever. I do as I preach, I started out by building my Adsense empire, moved on to creating my own products and I use affiliate products as my backend sales.

I get tired of working from home all the time, so often I will do seminars, and workshops to generate revenue. Thats another quick way to generate a lot of cash fast, but you need that initial investment and a means to get the people in the room.

Interviewer: What do you feel is the best means of getting traffic to any website?

The SEO Bully: Oh that is an easy question. Without a doubt there is no traffic like free traffic.

Interviewer: For those that are listening to this interview that may be new to Internet Marketing do you mind explaining what you mean by free traffic?

The SEO Bully: Sure. Free traffic often called organic traffic from such sources as search engines, social networks, etc…. If you build your foundation right and choose the correct keywords you will generate traffic to your site without a doubt. This may take a little time to get the ball rolling but once it starts the money will roll in on autopilot.

Interviewer: In the past you have spoke out about some of the underhand tactics that many of todays Internet Marketers are using. Would you be willing to give us some examples of what you mean?

The SEO Bully: Sure. So many people are so desperate to achieve financial freedom that they tend to loose all since of reasoning. I want to say on and for the record that I am not putting these people down because I was the exact same way. My rule of thumb is if it sounds to good to be true chances are it is.

Interviewer: Just to play devils advocate for a moment let me say that some of your offers sound to good to be true also. What do you have to say about that?

The SEO Bully: My strategy is I give away a lot of things that I deem valuable and useful to people who opt-in to my list. This opens the doors of communication for me. This allows the members of my list the opportunity to get to know me and to determine for themselves if they want to do business with me. Another rule of thumb is people will do business with people that they like.

Lets say that I give you several free reports that has helped you solve a problem that you may have been having. Then I turn around and offer you an in depth course on the same subject matter that will help you even further, but I am selling it for $47 or $97 dollars. Past statistics show that the people on my list, which I consider to be friends are more than happy to buy from me over and over again. I have an extremely low opt-out rate on all of my list in varies niche markets.

Interviewer: In your opinion what is the easiest niche market to make money in?

The SEO Bully: It is easy to make money with any niche, with the exception of the how to make money niche!

Interviewer: Do you mind giving us an example of a specific niche market that you have had success in?

The SEO Bully: Hmmmm you do know that I own over 200 websites in a variety of niche markets! But right off the top of my head I would have to say my bass fishing niche, I have no complaints about it – it has treated me very well. My secret to it is I have an Uncle that is Virginia Bass Master and all he ever wants to do is talk about fishing. He is a wealth of information, and doesn’t mind giving me tips, and sharing secrets to getting fish in the boat.

Interviewer: What kind of money do you make in that niche, if you do not mind sharing that information?

The SEO Bully: It averages approximately $100 a day, some days a little less, others a little more.

Interviewer: How are you monetizing that site?

The SEO Bully: Actually I am constantly testing different things. Right now I have Adsense, Amazon, eBay Partner Network, and ClickBank.

Interviewer: WOW you have all your basis covered, but some experts say that you should focus on one method instead of using the method that you are using. How do you feel about that?

The SEO Bully: I sort of agree. Like I said I am testing a variety of things on that particular site. I started out with just Adsense, then after a while I noticed that my adsense revenue had peaked. So I pulled the Adsense and added Clickbank ads. I let that run for a little while,  to see if I could get the ads to convert. I noticed that ClickBank really didn’t have a lot of products for that particular niche market. I pulled the Clickbank ads and replaced them with Amazon, I tracked the results. I repeated the process and experimented with eBay for awhile then I had the crazy idea of mixing them all together and it happened to work.

I think it is important for all entrepreneurs to understand the importance of experimenting and tracking your results. Its also important to understand what works great in one niche market may not work on the next niche market.

Interviewer: You mentioned that you have over 200 sites. How in the world to you manage that many sites?

The SEO Bully: I do not manage them, I outsource the majority of the day-to-day work.

Interviewer: Could you give our listeners a quick breakdown of how you setup things from start to finish to give them an idea of how they could get 200 sites if thats what they choose to do.

The SEO Bully: First let me say this.. I truly feel if I were to get tested today I would be diagnosed with Adult ADD. I get bored with things quickly and that was a major problem for me in the beginning. I would always start something and never finish. Once I identified the problem I focused on it and I believe that is how I ended up with so many sites. I have members on my list who have one site that makes as much money as I do if not more.

With that said, everything I do, read, or see is a potential market idea. I fell asleep with the television on one night. In the middle of the night I woke up to turn it off and one of those crazy infomercials was on. They were talking about hair loss for men. Instantly I jumped out of bed, opened Market Samurai and started doing my keyword research. That one idea that I had while trying to find the remote added an additional $2,000 a year on to what I was already making.

After I did the research I purchased the domain name and outsourced having someone install WordPress and all of my plugins.  I already knew this was going to be an autoblog site. So at this point I had approximately $10 invested in a domain name from Godaddy. I had $5 a month invested in web hosting and the site was building up content on autopilot thanks to WPRobot which I swear by. It is worth every single penny. In fact it is so good that I think the guy that made it is crazy for not charging more for it. I would have easily paid $1,000 for that plugin. Nothing else on the market even comes close.

Meanwhile while that site is building up content and gaining age, I will move on to another idea and do the same thing in another niche market. At this point I may have a few hours of my time invested and a little money. While all that is going on I will go in and start doing my on-page and off-page optimization. I will start monetizing a site once it reaches approximately 300 or so unique visitors a day. Instantly I have a revenue source once I turn on Adsense. After that its wash, rinse, and repeat.

Ideally I would like each site to generate approximately $100 a month. That is the initial goal. I have some that make around a $1,000 a month and some that make $30 or $40 a month. I will take the breakout sites and create my own products.

Interviewer: I haven’t heard you mention anything about building a list? What do you think about list building?

The SEO Bully: OMG I have so many list that it is ridiculous. List are awesome and another way to generate money on autopilot.

Interviewer: Do you have any secret that you are willing to share about how to build your list?

The SEO Bully: Nope nothing is a secret. Once I build the site I already have traffic coming to it, so why not bribe the visitor with something of value to join my list. That starts the sales funnel.

Interviewer: What kind of bribe do you normally give?

The SEO Bully: Depends on the market. But I try to come up with something that when they opt-in they are blown away and left with the feeling, “I cannot believe that I got this for free.” I now have them in my sales funnel.

Interviewer: I also heard from someone else that we interviewed that you do not do JV’s with other Internet Marketers, is that true?

The SEO Bully: That is not true, however I will say it is rare. Because I am not going to recommend anything to my list that I have not actually tried. If your product or service is so great then let me try it and come to my own conclusion.

I had one Internet Marketer approach me and ask me would I become a JV for a service that he had developed. I asked him could I try it out. He told me that he would give me access at a monthly discount rate. I felt that he shot himself in the foot. If he would of let me try it for free, he would have increased his list, as well as increased his monthly income by thousands of dollars a month. Instead he chose to pass, and sounded a little upset over the phone. Now ask yourself, why would I pay you to put thousands of dollars in your pocket and help you to build your list? He doesn’t see the big picture, at all, and surprisingly there are a lot of marketers out there like that.

Interviewer: Do you ever seek JV partners.

The SEO Bully: Nope, I am always getting people that ask me to sell my stuff. I have no need to go out begging for JV’s. My products and reputation speak for themselves.

Interviewer: I actually joined your latest project The Anatomy of Money Making, and want to know what’s the catch? How are you making your money because you are giving away some killer information for free.

The SEO Bully: I am actually giving away the information for free, in hopes that you will buy from me later on down the road. If you want to really make a full time living online there are tools that you need. I explain that in the course. I do not try to hide my affiliate links I tell the people, “Hey you really need this tool and you can buy it direct cutting me out, or you can use my affiliate link.” They get to see me actually using the tool, you can watch me step-by-step making real money.

Interviewer: Do you think there are some people that will learn everything they can and not spend any money with you?

The SEO Bully: Of course, there are always those people who do not want to see you do good. Those are usually the people who try to shortcut all the time, and never make any serious money if any at all online.

Interviewer: If you had to start all over from scratch, and you could only have one tool and no money what-so-ever what would you do?

The SEO Bully: That’s easy. I am always asked that question. If I could only have one tool there is no doubt in my mind it would have to be Market Samurai. If you can find the market you can get the money.

Interviewer: You know I must agree with you, after joining your Anatomy of Money Making and seeing your use Market Samurai I purchased it right then and there. And for the record I did use your affiliate link. And I must agree with you, that software alone totally transformed my business. I could not believe how how much money I was leaving on the table.

I didn’t mean to get off track but I got excited when I heard you mention that as the tool you would rather have. Ok now you have your Market Samurai how would you make money with it?

The SEO Bully: According to your scenario I do not even have money for a domain name, web hosting or anything, right?

Interviewer: That’s correct!

The SEO Bully: Without a doubt I would jump on CPA offers, and affiliate offers from Clickbank.

Interviewer: How would you use Market Samurai to make money with those offers. I am especially eager to hear how you would use it to make money with CPA offers.

The SEO Bully: I would use Market Samurai to find micro niche markets that I could dominate by writing articles to promote my offers. I love CPA offers because they are like stealing candy from a baby. I have one offer that I am currently promoting that all I have to do is get the visitor to download a free educational game, and I get paid $1.25. The last time I checked that offer was receiving 40 to 50 downloads a day. That is approximately $60 a day. Imagine some of the other offers where all you have to do is get people to enter their email address and they get free stuff. How hard is that to do?

Anyway back on topic. I would write article to promote my offers, and focus on building backlinks to those articles to help push them up in the search engines.

Interviewer: Wow, that’s it? Write articles?

The SEO Bully: Well you said I had no money, which means that I would have to leverage my time. Since at this point I have more time than money I would use my time to write as many articles using the different targeted keyword phrases that I found using Market Samurai.

Once I started making a little money I would reinvest it into outsourcing having those articles written and focus on expanding into different markets.

Interviewer: You know something Tim, we have interviewed a lot of Internet Markets over the years, but I can honestly sit here and say that I admire your style. I love the way you break everything down and your not afraid to tell it all.

The SEO Bully: You know Amanda, I have always felt that information is the only thing that we can give it all away and still have it all with us. Information is the most valuable commodity that we have on earth, so share the wealth.

Interviewer: WOW, what an awesome quote to end this interview on. Well Tim or The SEO Bully thank you for taking time out of your busy day, and thank your for being so open and honest.
